vegas road trip [and other ramblings]

I just got home from a most perfect road trip :)

My friend Alec had a wedding to go to in St. George, Utah and decided to invite some friends with him and make a weekend out of it. It was SO. MUCH. FUN. One of the most fun weekends of my BYU career. Since St. George is only a couple hours from Las Vegas, we went to see the Strip, too. I had never been to Vegas before, and I was SUPER excited to see what all the hype was about.

Despite the 104 degree weather and extreme sleep deprivation, I had the time of my life.
(^ understatement of the century)

After Vegas, we had a wedding to go to. Two hours back on the road to St. George. We went to the wedding and to dinner before we found a motel to stay at. It was a little stressful finding a place and we were all exhausted (I was running on 40+ hours without sleep), so we slept well that night. Sunday brought church and a quick tour of the city.

Michael is a friend from our ward in Provo. He was randomly driving through St. George with his Dad the same day that we were there. And our paths just happened to cross at the temple, where we both decided to visit before heading back to BYU.
It's a small world after all :)

Rusty taught me how to tie a tie. Because I have little reason to tie a tie on myself (the way he taught me), I decided to learn how to tie a tie on someone else. Catie was my first guinea pig.
Not bad for a first time-er, eh?

Anyway, it goes without saying that I had the time of my life on this trip. And my friends that came bonded in a way that only road trips can afford. Going from the Utah Valley culture to Downtown Las Vegas was a bit of a shock, but I couldn't have asked for a more perfect respite from the "norm" that I've grown used to. I loved every minute of it :)

In other news, work is great, church is great, friends are great. Life is great. I'm watching a special on Animal Planet about Michael Jackson's chimpanzee named Bubbles at 4am, eating a pizza and listening to The Scissor Sisters.

It could be true that college is the best AND worst thing that has ever happened to me.

  2. I love road trips, too!
but you already know that :)

It was way cool! It had all these legit artifacts that he actually had in his home when he lived there. His dinner set had the Y logo on it, no joke. How awesome is that!?
